The Riserva Pinot Nero “Vigna Ganger” is the most prestigious red of the Girlan winery, one of the most important realities of Alto Adige. With 200 member partners and 215 hectares of vineyards located in the best areas of Oltradige and Bassa Atesina, Girlan represents a reference point for the entire region. The presence of such fragmented plots allows to cultivate each variety on the most suitable soils and microclimate, in order to always produce high-quality wines. The vineyards are located at an altitude between 450 and 500 meters, on rather heterogeneous soils. The cool and ventilated climate contributes to a slow maturation of the grapes, resulting in healthy and aromatically rich grapes. The Pinot Nero “Vigna Ganger” is born exclusively from the grapes of the homonymous vineyard, which is located on the Mazzon plateau, the most famous and valued cru for Pinot Nero in Alto Adige. It is a wine that represents the excellence of the winery and the culmination of rigorous and meticulous work.
The “Vigna Ganger” Pinot Nero Riserva from Girlan is a wine that originates from a prestigious company monopoly with a southwest exposure, characterized by clay-limestone soils. Fermentation takes place in steel tanks with 1/5 of the grapes left whole and a maceration on the skins of about 25 days. The wine matures for 20 months in barrique and completes the aging with 18 months in bottle before being released for sale.In the glass, it has a ruby red color with slight garnet reflections. The aromatic profile is intense and elegant, with aromas of raspberry, sour cherry, small red fruits, hints of underbrush, delicate spices, balsamic and floral notes. The sip is long and deep, with multifaceted aromas and a velvety tannic texture. The finish is harmonious, fresh, and persistent.
